Leisure activities

Activities for all seasons

Our Schenkenberger Hof with its quiet suburban location on the outskirts of Delitzsch is close to the nature reserves "Dübener Heide" and "Goitzsche". Go for a hike or take a bicycle tour to discover these beautiful landscapes.

We also recommend visiting the old town of Delitzsch or the historical cities of Leipzig, Halle and the Lutheran towns of Eisleben and Wittenberg.

Pfarrscheune

Pfarrscheune

The local Pfarrscheune Schenkenberg regularly holds concerts, music evenings and other events. The cultural offerings range from cabaret, blues, pop, rock and classical concerts to gospel and choir evenings. There is something for all tastes and all ages.

Goitzsche

The flooding of former open-cast mines has created a lake district which, with an area of 60 km², is the world's largest landscape art project of this kind.

The Goitzsche cultural landscape offers a wide range of leisure and recreational activities. Nature lovers can enjoy retreats in the southern part of the Goitzsche. With its extensive network of hiking trails this area is also particularly suitable for walking and cycling. You can get a cycling at the reception.

The north-western part of the Great Goitzsche Lake is bathing water. In this part of the Goitzsche swimming, surfing, sailing, water hiking and diving are permitted.

Delitzsch baroque castle

Delitzsch

Located in the middle of the tri-city area Leipzig-Halle-Dessau and in the heart of central Germany, Delitzsch is surrounded by a newly formed lake district.

Besides chocolate, the city has a lot more to offer. The city center is characterized by numerous medieval, Renaissance and Baroque buildings . The beautiful old town, the baroque castle and the many small streets and alleyways will take you right back to the Middle Ages.

The best-known son of our town is Dr. Hermann Schulze-Delitzsch, who organized the world’s first credit unions for carpenters and shoemakers in 1847 and is considered the founder of the German cooperative system. His work can be traced in the Hermann Schulze-Delitzsch House.

The one-of-a-kind city of Leipzig is now more vibrant than ever - a bustling city for trade fairs, congresses and business, but you can also enjoy culture and sport events, enjoy nightlife or go shopping. The various markets and street festivals during summer are all the rage.

You should definitely take the opportunity to visit Leipzig. Leipzig’s city center is just a 30 minutes drive away. Or you can go by train, which runs twice an hour in both directions.

Trade fair city

Leipzig has been a trade fair city for over 500 years. In 1996, the new trade fair location was opened and the venue successfully hosts the Leipzig Book Fair every year. From our hotel to the Leipzig Trade it’s a straight distance of 17 km via the Bundesstraße B 184 (federal highway), so by car you can reach the trade fair grounds in just 15 minutes

Lutherstadt Wittenberg

Lutherstadt Wittenberg

Visitors to Wittenberg can still enjoy the flair of the Protestant Reformation and the Renaissance on a stroll through the old town. From the castle church with the world-famous "Thesentür" and the tombs of Luther and Melanchthon, you can visit the courtyards of Lucas Cranach the Elder, the town church with its impressive Cranach Altarpiece, and the homes of Dr. Martin Luther and Prof. Philipp Melanchthon.

Wittenberg's old town is a unique open-air museum where you can immerse yourself in world history.

In 1996, the "Luthergedenkstätten" in Wittenberg were added to the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Since 1999, Wittenberg has had another highlight: the "Luther-Melanchthon-Gymnasium", which was redesigned by the Viennese visual artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser.
